The adoption of periodic payment options for health insurance could significantly reduce the financial burden on consumers, according to Anand Shrikhande, Co-founder and CEO of QuickInsure, an online insurance comparison portal.

Speaking to CNBC TV18, Shrikhande emphasised that while life insurance policies already offer monthly, quarterly, and half-yearly payment options, such flexibility is largely absent in health insurance.

“In a family of four, the annual health insurance premium can amount to ₹25,000 to ₹35,000, which could be equivalent to a month’s salary in smaller cities. Periodic payment mechanisms would allow such families to pay in manageable installments, making health coverage more accessible,” Shrikhande said.
