The United Nations Human Rights Office (OHCHR) in the Occupied Palestinian Territory warned on Tuesday of Israeli settlers’ increasing violence against Palestinian farmers, right at the beginning of the critical olive harvest season.
According to the OHCHR, 757 settler attacks took place in the first six months of this year – a 13% increase compared to last year. Israeli settlers have attacked Palestinian farmers during the harvest season. Within the past week, settlers reportedly carried out at least 71 attacks in the occupied West Bank. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reports that half of those assaults targeted olive harvests, which are a main source of income for many Palestinians.
