NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. — The second special prosecutor assigned to investigate the handling of attorney general candidate Jay Jones' reckless driving case has recused himself, documents obtained by 13News Now show.
Nate Green, the Williamsburg and James City County Commonwealth's Attorney, was assigned as the special prosecutor on Tuesday after the New Kent County Commonwealth's Attorney, Scott Renick, recused himself while investigating the case. On Thursday, Green confirmed to 13News Now that he recused himself, too, on Wednesday.
The order filed by Green states that he believes "it would be improper for [Green] or any of his assistants to participate in the exercise of any of the powers of the Attorney for the Commonwealth in this matter."
