Don’t kid yourself.

Premier Danielle Smith and her UCP government didn’t sit around, wringing their hands over forcing teachers back to work .

It is said they didn’t entertain any feelings of guilt or experience any moments of indecision or worry about any backlash they will face before dropping the hammer and pulling the curtain down on the Alberta teacher strike.

After all, it wasn’t about the teachers. It was about the kids.

Parents wanted their kids back in school.

The strike drags on. It couldn’t go on much longer. Students cannot see more of their school year devoured by this dispute.

The Smith government was not prepared to throw in the towel, raise the white flag and give in to every pricey demand put forward by the Alberta Teachers’ Association.
