LYONS — For local cross country athletes looking to reach next week’s state championships, Thursday’s regional meet at Lyons High School represented a do-or-die opportunity.
Either a top-four team finish or a top-15 individual mark was the key to staying alive, and no lack of local runners kept their seasons going by earning a trip to state. In six regional races across three classifications, 13 local teams and seven other individuals punched their tickets to state.
Those who qualified will compete in the 2025 CHSAA cross country state championships on Nov. 1 at the Norris Penrose Event Center in Colorado Springs.
