A huge second-hand book sale is coming to Maitland, and the best part is readers can fill a whole tote bag for just $5.

It's time for Maitland Libraries' shelves to be refreshed, so hundreds of titles will be on sale to make room for more.

There will be books of all genres for all ages, with plenty of popular titles available as well as toys from the toy library, dvds and audiobooks.

Maitland City Council coordinator community participation Erin Pascall said there will be something for everyone.

"Reading as a whole has become more popular but I think it's also because with a lot of new technologies it's become more accessible as well, and that's reflected in our book sale," she said.

"We do have lots of different books, we'll have some large print books available and some of our audio
