Police arrested two people in separate incidents of alleged shoplifting from a department store and a supermarket, respectively.
ACT Policing said at around 2.30pm on Thursday, October 23, police were called to the Canberra Centre in the CBD following reports that a man had allegedly attempted to leave a department store without paying for clothing items.
He was stopped by loss prevention officers who allegedly located clothing and items suspected to being used to remove security tags in the man's backpack.
Police attended the scene and arrested the man, who was identified as a 60-year-old Reid resident.
He will face the ACT Magistrates Court on Friday after being charged with minor theft, going equipped for theft and obstructing or resisting a public official, police said.
