Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada is partnering with the Division of Social Services (DSS) to help residents understand upcoming changes to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) that could affect thousands of Nevadans.
DSS staff will be available this Friday, October 24, from noon to 3 p.m. at St. Vincent’s Food Pantry, 500 E. Fourth St., to meet with people who receive SNAP benefits or believe they may be impacted.
In early October, Catholic Charities was notified that federal SNAP waivers will end within 30 days, taking effect on November 2.
Since updates to SNAP policy typically begin at the start of a month, officials say this suggests that the Able-Bodied Adults Without Dependents work requirements are likely to resume in December.
