NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D. (KCAU) — We can’t talk about residential property without thinking of the people over at McCook Lake who lost everything in the 2024 flood. As it turns out, this area has a history of high waters.
Images from the Sioux City Museum show high water from 1952. Rapid melting and an ice jam on the Missouri River had people wading in water.
And a year after the Big Sioux River topped its banks, sending water through McCook Lake neighborhoods, the view is slowly changing.
