ANAMOSA, Iowa (KCRG) — An Eastern Iowa veteran group says it’s already seeing an influx of service members and families in need of financial help, and worries a government shutdown could mean those serving might have to go without a paycheck.
The Teufelhund Veterans Group out of Anamosa has been around for more than a decade. In that time, it has helped hundreds of veterans with housing assistance, bills, and other needs. But the group now worries that if the shutdown continues, service members will have to maintain their families with zero income.
Aubrey Kula of Anamosa knows the struggle firsthand. Her husband, Dylon, a father of two, deployed five months ago.
“When a deployment happens, that’s when everything is going to happen back home,” Kula said.
