Sensex Today: Indian equity benchmarks Sensex and Nifty ended lower on Thursday, weighed by global concerns after reports suggested that the US is considering a fresh probe into China’s compliance with the 2020 trade deal.
At the closing bell, the Sensex slipped 344.52 points, or 0.41%, to 84,211.88, while the Nifty50 fell 96.25 points, or 0.37%, to 25,795.15.
On the Sensex, major losers included Hindustan Unilever (HUL), Adani Ports, UltraTech Cement, and Titan, while ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel, Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL), and Sun Pharma emerged as the top gainers.
Sectorally, the Nifty Metal index outperformed with a gain of 1.03%, followed by the Nifty Oil & Gas index, which rose 0.2%. In contrast, the Nifty FMCG index was the worst performer, down 0.75%, t
