The United States ramped up pressure on Venezuela as it flew Air Force B-1 bombers near the South American nation, which Washington considers an adversary.
The Wall Street Journal , which first reported the development, said two B-1 Lancers took off from Dyess Air Force Base in Texas on Thursday and flew close to Venezuelan airspace. The long-range bombers, capable of supersonic flight and carrying over 34,000 kilograms of bombs, remained in international airspace throughout the mission.
US President Donald Trump dismissed the report as “inaccurate" but said that Washington was “not happy with Venezuela for a lot of reasons."
