MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WIAT) -- Alabama Governor Kay Ivey and Attorney General Steve Marshall have issued statements following the nitrogen gas execution of a man who was convicted murder during a kidnapping in 1993.

Anthony Boyd was pronounced dead at 6:33 p.m. Thursday at the William C. Holman Correctional Facility in Atmore, Alabama, according to the Alabama Department of Corrections.

Marshall released the following statement on Boyd's execution:

“A jury unanimously convicted Anthony Todd Boyd in March 1995 for the horrific murder of Gregory Huguley, who was burned alive over a $200 debt. For more than 30 years, Boyd sought to delay justice through endless litigation, yet he never once presented evidence that the jury was wrong.
