The community is rallying to help a young man who was "the victim of a horrific and unimaginable act of violence".
At 6pm on Monday, October 13, the 19-year-old was walking on Cowper Street, Coonabarabran, when he was approached by a man and two women.
Police were told a member of the group allegedly poured a liquid onto the man before he caught alight.
Passersby extinguished the fire, but the teen suffered extensive burns and was rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment.
The victim, who has since been identified as Jacob Thompson, sustained third-degree burns to over 32 per cent of his body, including his face, torso, both arms, back, and legs and was flown to Sydney, where he was placed into an induced coma on life support, according to a GoFundMe post..
