GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - This year, East Carolina Women’s basketball Media Day came with a lot of new faces, and with those new faces came a middle-of-the-pack prediction from the American Conference’s coaches poll.

Returning only three players from last year with 10 incoming, 7th place was where they landed in the voting, but that has not bothered the Pirates.

“I kinda figured with what we lost,” Head Coach Kim McNeill said, “That’s okay, I like being the underdog, because there’s only one way to go and that’s up.”

“Honestly, preseason polls don’t matter,” Returning Forward Anzhane Hutton said, “At the end of the day, we’re all fighting for that top spot.”

Coming off a 17-15 season, the Pirates open up the new one Novemebr 3rd at home against UNC-Wilmington.
