The Ysleta High School football team improved to 8-0 overall and 6-0 in District 1-4A, Division 1 with a 42-21 win at Irvin.

The 8-0 start is the first one ever for coach Joe Martinez, who is in his 10th year as a coach at the school.

Irvin scored first on an Angel Valenzuela 31-yard TD run, but the Indians scored 28 srteight points to lead 28-7 at halftime. Ysleta quarterback Rodrigo Martinez thre three touchdown passes and ran for another in the first half.

Irvin falls to 3-5 overall and 3-3 in district.

The Indians added two more scores to go up 42-7 before the Rockets fought back and scored two touchdowns of its own.

Next week, Irvin visits Fabens and Ysleta is at home vs. Riverside. Both games are om Friday, Oct. 31.
