SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WSPA) -- Officials are investigating a fatal collision that occurred near Greer on Thursday.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP), the crash occurred on Brockman McClimon Road at Van Patton Road around 7:55 p.m.

A 2016 GMC pickup truck was traveling east when the car went off the right side of the road and hit a tree.

The driver was taken to a nearby hospital, where they later died.

The Spartanburg County Coroner's Office has not shared the identity of the person who died.
