DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. — An expansion of I-285 is unnerving some residents who may be in the path of the project that would add toll lanes to the busy highway.
"We saved our whole life for this house. This is our home," Heather Bruno said on Monday. She and her husband, Dennis, moved into a Lindmoor Woods house in 2020.
Behind it there’s a giant metal barrier separating their back yard from I-285. GDOT is circulating a plan to build an elevated express lane that would remove the barrier and take out the Brunos' home.
"We can’t do anything right now. We don’t know what they’re going to do," Heather Bruno said.
The Brunos and others in their neighborhood want to encourage GDOT to come up with a different plan that doesn't remove homes in Lindmoor Woods.
