The federal government faces a tough fight to get its amendments to environmental protection and biodiversity conservation laws over the line as the details are scrutinised.
Greens senator Sarah Hanson-Young said her party was open to negotiating with the government but she would not agree to a bill "riddled" with get-out clauses that suited the resource industry.
A key Greens demand for a "climate trigger" that could block coal and gas projects due to their emissions will not be part of the reforms Labor plans to introduce into federal parliament next week.
"We can destroy nature faster under these laws but there's no guaranteed protections for the environment, no protections for our native forests or for our climate," Senator Hanson-Young told ABC Radio on Friday.
