A Butler man is facing charges in connection to an incident that occurred during a drug raid shortly before noon Wednesday in Butler.

Butler City police on Thursday charged Joshua McDougall, 41, with felony aggravated assault, along with misdemeanor resisting arrest and use or possession of drug paraphernalia after he allegedly struck an officer in the face while trying to flee from an apartment.

According to an affidavit, Butler City police and Pennsylvania State Police executed a search warrant at 221 N. Washington St. following an incident earlier that morning.

As officers prepared to enter the residence, they saw two people running from the apartment before using forcible entry to go inside, the affidavit said.

Police then encountered McDougall attempting to escape.
