TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) - It’s week 11, the second to last week of the high school football regular season. Playoff pushes are happening this week across the region. The game of the week feature’s a rural rivalry battle between two postseason-bound teams.

The Branford Buccaneers (6-2) host the Lafayette Hornets (7-1) in the Battle for the Helmet.

Branford enters Friday night’s game having won four straight games. The team is excited to be back at Buccaneer Stadium this week for just the second time since September 5.

This is a rivalry that goes back all the way to 1953, but it’s also one that’s been one-sided for a long time. Branford’s last win against the Hornets came in 2009.

But head coach Tim Clark thinks these Bucs could be the ones to end that streak.
