A Santa Fe firefighter and paramedic charged last week with robbery and aggravated battery is back on the job following a decision by prosecutors to dismiss the charges, a city spokesperson confirmed Thursday.
Santa Fe police could still refile the charges, which accuse Brian Kennedy of beating a suspected thief and stealing the man’s wallet after recovering several items that belonged to his wife.
It was unclear if police will file the charges again. Deputy Chief Ben Valdez said the agency will discuss the case with the District Attorney’s Office before deciding how to proceed.
Court records newly available to the public provide new details about the Oct. 16 incident, in which Kennedy’s wife also was charged, along with the man accused of breaking into her vehicle at the couple’s home
