TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ( WBRC ) - A man police were searching for as a person of interest in what they said was a suspicious death investigation was found dead on Thursday afternoon.
According to the Violent Crimes Unit in Tuscaloosa, around 1 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 20, Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office deputies were called to an area of Old Fayette Road to investigate a “suspicious incident.”
That’s where responding deputies found a man dead at an abandoned residence, which led to VCU investigators taking over the case.
An official said the circumstances behind the victim’s death indicated foul play.
Authorities identified 37-year-old Erik Thomas as a person of interest in the investigation .
On Thursday, Oct. 23 around 12:30 p.m., Thomas was found dead in the 16000 block of Old F
