BENTON CITY, Wash. – This afternoon, Benton County deputies encountered a tense situation near the 100 block of Babs Ave.

Two occupants were found asleep in a vehicle, with visible drug paraphernalia. Upon waking, the female driver began yelling and threatening the deputy.

As more deputies arrived, the driver armed herself with large pliers and demanded a knife from her male passenger, who refused.

Additional deputies managed to take the female into custody. She was booked into the Benton County Jail.

The vehicle was seized due to the drug paraphernalia, and a search warrant will be requested to investigate further.
