Murray Watt has unveiled the new name for the Government’s environment law overhaul and it’s little surprise that the words “nature positive” are nowhere to be seen.
The title of previous Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek’s efforts gained a toxic reputation and was one of the first things Senator Watt indicated he would dump when he took over the portfolio.
The legislation, set to be introduced to Parliament next week, will be called the Environmental Protection Reform Bill.
Senator Watt said he continued to remain open to working with all sides of politics to pass the much-needed reforms.
The Greens have blasted the laws as being too pro-business while the Coalition says there isn’t yet enough detail about the benefits to project proponents from promised faster timeframes, casting
