The Haryana Government has written to the Centre recommending an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the death of former Punjab DGP Mohammad Mustafa’s son Aqil Akhtar on October 16.

Aqil (35) was found dead under mysterious circumstances at the family’s house in Mansa Devi Complex in Panchkula. Following a complaint by Shamshudeen Chaudhary, a resident of Malerkotla (Punjab), on October 17, the Panchkula police filed an FIR on October 20 against Mustafa, his wife and former Punjab minister Razia Sultana, daughter and Aqil’s wife for murder and criminal conspiracy.
