A man has been charged after police allegedly seized more than $240,000 worth of stolen cigarettes and vapes during a traffic stop in the Central West.

Highway patrol officers were doing roadside tests along Sydney Road in Kelso when they say they stopped a silver Toyota van this morning (October 24, 2025) around 7.40am.

As they spoke with the 33-year-old male driver, police claim to have noticed a number of "suspicious packages" inside of the vehicle.

They searched the van and allegedly found 237 cartons of cigarettes, five kilograms of tobacco, totalling approximately 47,400 cigarettes and 1,760 vapes.

Police say the cigarettes and tobacco have a combined estimated street value of $117,315, while the vapes have an estimated street value of $115,500.

The driver was arrested and taken
