First Take: Suicide Highway

Over the course of my news career, I’ve had some memorable experiences, not all good.

Among my memories are the hundreds of accidents that I’ve covered. Many of which could have been avoided if drivers were a little patient.

The most infamous stretch of road has to be Avenue B, between County 16th and US 195. That stretch is deemed ‘“Suicide Highway,” the reason being is drivers tend to rush and in an attempt to pass slower drivers drive into oncoming traffic.

At the top of my list of nightmarish scenes has to be those involving children. Children who weren’t restrained, babies playing in the street only to be run over by a careless driver.

The moral of the story is to be mindful, be patient and above all stay vigilant.
