An Indigenous documentary filmmaker who has called the Okanagan Valley home for more than a decade, is gaining major recognition and attention across Canada.

Damien Eagle Bear, 37, grew up in southern Alberta on the Blood Indian Reserve, which is part of the Blackfoot Confederacy, located two hours south of Calgary.

Eagle Bear moved to British Columbia in 2011 to fulfill a dream of his to attend film school. He moved to the Okanagan Valley in 2018 and has lived in different communities across the Okanagan ever since.

Eagle Bear’s documentary Skoden has gained national attention and acclaim.

His interest in filmmaking began as a teenager.
