Word last week that Tiger Woods was having disc-replacement surgery on his back — the seventh different surgery on his back in his stellar golf career — certainly has caused many in the golf world to believe that Woods as a competitive golfer is finished just two months before his 50th birthday.

Of course Woods hasn't really been a competitive golfer for a while. Woods hasn't played an official PGA Tour event since the 2024 British Open. Since then, Woods has struggled with a variety of health issues, including the most recent surgery.
