A 24-year-old woman has been extradited from New South Wales to face a Queensland court over an alleged Chinese authority and law enforcement impersonation scam.

Queensland police said the woman, a Chinese national, was arrested at a Sydney address on Wednesday and had been due to face Brisbane Magistrates Court on Friday, charged with fraud offences.

Police will allege a person was contacted as part of a scam targeting international students, and told they were linked to serious offences by a person who said they were a Chinese police officer.

It will be alleged the victim was threatened with prosecution and deportation if they did not comply, and they were coerced into handing over money and setting up bank accounts.

The woman was arrested by detectives from the QPS Cyber Crime Unit,
