A planned extension of Hutton Street in Osborne Park is quietly progressing, with detailed designs nearing completion.

As of June, the project had reached the 85 per cent design milestone and the City of Stirling has now submitted a funding application to Main Roads WA.

Set to be known as Mineral Road, the Hutton Street South extension will link Scarborough Beach Road to Walters Drive and is expected to reduce traffic congestion along Scarborough Beach Road.

A 165m extension of Hutton Street near where Officeworks now stands was completed in 2013.

Since then, the road has remained seemingly unfinished, ending abruptly.
