Frankie Muniz is back in the middle of things.
The actor and NASCAR driver could not contain his excitement to return to "Malcolm in the Middle" for an upcoming revival, revealing a photo with costars Justin Berfield and Christopher Masterson on set of the returning series.
"I was told not to post this yet, but then I remembered the theme song. I'm just too excited for y'all to see the new episodes and I miss my brothers," Muniz wrote on X, referring to "Boss of Me," the 2001 They Might Be Giants track and theme song to "Malcolm in the Middle."
Disney announced in December that the Emmy-nominated sitcom, which aired on Fox for seven seasons from 2000 to 2006, will return with new episodes on Disney+.
'Malcolm in the Middle' revival cast: Is Dewey in the new series?
The original series followed an eccentric American family with four sons, including gifted genius Malcolm (Muniz) and brothers Francis (Masterson), Reese (Berfield) and Dewey (Erik Per Sullivan), led by parents Hal (Bryan Cranston) and Lois (Jane Kaczmarek). Cranston and Kaczmarek have been confirmed for the series.
Per Sullivan will not be returning, however. In June, Cranston told "Fly on the Wall" podcast hosts Dana Carvey and David Spade that the former actor turned the gig down. "He's actually going to Harvard," Cranston said. "He's really, really smart, and he's getting his master's at Harvard right now. He said, 'Oh God, no, I haven't acted since I was 9 or something. So I'm not into it.'"
The new episodes will follow Malcolm and his daughter, who get wrapped up in the family's typical chaos, "when Hal and Lois demand his presence for their 40th wedding anniversary party," according to the streaming service. No premiere date has been announced.
