India and the US have begun drafting the language of the trade deal text after a “broad convergence” among negotiators during the visit of Indian officials to Washington earlier this month, a senior government official said on Friday.

“The engagement between the two countries on the trade deal is still on, and the language of the deal is being worked on as there is broad convergence between the two countries on the agreement. US negotiators could also visit India,” the official said.

Meanwhile, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal , during his visit to Germany, said that India is in talks with the US and will sign a fair and equitable deal.
