Irecently bought a GMKtek G5 mini PC – one of the smallest mini PCs of 2025. Before making the purchase, I went spiraling down a rabbit hole of reading about mini PCs. It turned out to be a good thing, because it nudged me toward buying one when I might’ve otherwise have opted out.

You might think all mini PCs are the same, or there’s not really much of a difference between a mini PC and a desktop computer. But there are a few points about mini PCs that I’m glad I knew before taking the plunge. Here are five of them.
