Srinagar, Oct 24: National Conference (NC) senior leaders Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan and Sajad Kichloo have been elected to the Rajya Sabha from Jammu and Kashmir, officials announced on Friday. Ramzan secured 58 votes, while Kichloo received 56 votes, marking the first two declared results of the ongoing polls.

The elections saw 85 MLAs casting their ballots, with the NC-led alliance maintaining a decisive advantage in the Legislative Assembly. Sources said the party’s strength virtually ensures it will win three of the four seats, leaving the BJP likely to claim the remaining one.

After his victory, Ramzan thanked NC president Dr. Farooq Abdullah, vice president Omar Abdullah, and alliance partners, calling the win “a mandate for safeguarding J&K’s political dignity and democratic voice
