A Midlands grandmother has won half a million pounds after making a spontaneous decision to buy a lottery ticket.

The lucky retired winner, from Staffordshire , who has chosen to stay partially anonymous, won the £500,000 top prize on The National Lottery’s Thunderball draw on Tuesday 10 June.
