POCATELLO — Idaho State Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred early Friday morning on Interstate 15 in Bannock County.
Around 2 a.m., a 47-year-old Pocatello man was driving a 1997 Mitsubishi 3000 GT northbound near milepost 70 when his vehicle veered off the road, struck a guardrail, went over it, and collided with a pillar of the Monte Vista overpass, according to ISP.
The driver, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Two of the three northbound lanes of I-15 were blocked for about three hours while crews cleared the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by Idaho State Police.
