On Friday evening, Toronto Blue Jays fans will don their blue-and-white gear and cheer their hearts out as the Canadian team takes home field in the World Series for the first time in more than three decades. They will gather at a restaurant just northwest of their city’s downtown, munching on chicken wings, poutine and smoked meat.
But as Trey Yesavage throws the first pitch at 8 p.m., these fans won’t be anywhere close to home plate — or even in the same time zone.
These fans will be about 4,227 kilometres away, in the heart of Los Angeles Dodgers territory. But a few Canadians are coming together to make sure Jays fans who live in Los Angeles feel right at home.
