INWOOD - The Class AAAA, North Region boys and girls soccer tournaments got underway on Thursday, with three teams picking up wins.
On the boys side, No. 7 Spring Mills and No. 8 Jefferson advanced, as the Cardinals defeated Preston 7-0, and the Cougars beat University 4-0.
Spring Mills was led by Christian Park with a four-goal effort, while Alex Fleagle, Taoufik Tchagbadao and Chace Butler had a goal each. The Cardinals, who will play No. 2 Morgantown next, also got three assists from Alejandro Rojas and two assists from Butler.
Jefferson (4-14-2) scored two goals each in the first half and second half en route to the win. The Cougars will play top-seeded Wheeling Park on Saturday.
