Inter Miami has officially announced that captain Lionel Messi has extended his contract with the club, committing his future until the end of the 2028 Major League Soccer (MLS) season.
Messi, who joined the team from Paris Saint-Germain in 2023, has played a pivotal role in their rise through the MLS standings. This season, he has netted 29 league goals and helped Inter Miami secure third place in the Eastern Conference, earning a spot in the playoffs.
The Argentine legend had previously hinted that Inter Miami might be the final stop in his storied career as he nears retirement. The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner has also brought renewed global attention to both the league and the David Beckham-owned club.
