AccuWeather is predicting Melissa could become one of the strongest storms of the season.

There's just a month remaining of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season.

Tropical Storm Melissa is forecast to begin "rapid intensification" in about 24 hours, becoming a hurricane by Saturday, Oct. 25, and a major hurricane by Sunday, Oct. 26, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Current forecasts predict Melissa will be a Category 4 storm early next week.

A major hurricane is one that is at least a Category 3 storm, with maximum sustained winds of at least 111 mph.
