Waiting until October to finally watch “Sinners,” Ryan Coogler’s hit vampire period film from earlier this year, might have been seasonally appropriate, but it meant I missed the chance to have an unspoiled experience with the one scene everybody talks about.

It occurs about midway through the film, right before all the neck-biting and heart-staking begins, as the members of a Black community in 1930s Mississippi gather at a new juke joint operated by twin brothers played by Michael B. Jordan.
