Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Water Resources Department has stepped up preparations in view of potential rainfall from an approaching cyclone, according to forecasts by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

A review meeting was held this evening at Lok Seva Bhawan, chaired by the Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary Anu Garg, with the department’s Chief Engineer and other senior officials in attendance.

Officials were directed to closely monitor water levels in reservoirs across the state, assess inflows due to expected heavy rainfall, and plan for controlled water release to ensure safe management. While current river levels remain low and there is no immediate risk of flooding, the Development Commissioner emphasized vigilance and timely action.
