DALLAS — The North Texas-based unions representing thousands of American Airlines and Southwest Airlines pilots are among the unions calling on Congress to pass legislation to end the ongoing government shutdown .

The government shutdown started Oct. 1 after Congress failed to pass a funding bill by the deadline.

Since then, the shutdown has impacted operations at airports around the country. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) workers and air traffic controllers are deemed essential workers and are working without pay during the government shutdown.
