Speculation around Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze’s job security has grown every week, and it will likely be a topic of discussion once again going into this week’s matchup with Arkansas.

Freeze is 14-18 since taking over at Auburn and is off to a 0-4 start in SEC play for the third season in a row.

Auburn owed Bryan Harsin $15.3 million when it fired him during the 2022 season, and it would have to pay a similar price to get rid of Freeze.

Freeze would be owed 75% of his remaining salary, which comes out to roughly $15.4 million. With the athletic department already ranking second in the SEC in severance payments during fiscal year 2024, buying out Freeze’s contract would add more financial strain to Auburn.
