It took Julie-Ann Russell’s departure from football for her to acquire the skill of penalty-taking in another sport.
This time last year Russell was a key player in Ireland’s effort to qualify for last summer’s Uefa European Women’s Championship in Switzerland. Today she will line out at centre-forward for her home club Moycullen in the Galway senior B county final in Gaelic football
