NORTH SEWICKLEY TWP. - A Pittsburgh man was fatally struck in a hit-and-run accident early Thursday morning while walking in a work zone along the Pennsylvania Turnpike in North Sewickley Township, according to a public information release report from the Pennsylvania State Police.
The crash occurred just after 2 a.m. on the eastbound travel lanes of the turnpike, near milepost 13.9, approximately 3,628 feet east of River Road.
The victim, identified as Khalil Mutadabur, 21, of Pittsburgh, was reportedly walking westbound in the eastbound travel lanes when he was struck by a vehicle traveling east.
Mutadabur suffered a fatal injury.
Although the incident took place in a work zone, police say the victim was not working on the tollway.
