Former Bihar minister Tej Pratap Yadav on Friday ruled out any possibility of returning to the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), asserting that he would “choose death over going back” to the party led by his father, Lalu Prasad.

In an interview with PTI Videos, Yadav, who now heads the Janshakti Janta Dal (JJD), said he was not driven by power but by principles and dignity. “I would choose death over returning to that party. I am not hungry for power. Principles and self-respect are supreme for me,” he said.

Tej Pratap, the elder son of Lalu Prasad and Rabri Devi, both former chief ministers, was expelled from the RJD a few months ago. He has since floated his own outfit and is contesting from Mahua, the constituency from where he made his electoral debut in 2015.
