SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Just days after Governor Jeff Landry announced that Louisianans enrolled in the SNAP program would not receive benefits in November due to the ongoing federal government shutdown, he is changing course and issuing an emergency order.
On Friday morning, the governor's office issued a statement announcing that he signed an emergency order that would "help fund SNAP benefits for the elderly, disabled, and children in our State who have been abandoned by Congressional Democrats."
He went on to say that we should not allow the most vulnerable in our state to go hungry because Congress failed to reopen the federal government.
